In this section of the website you will find information on applying for the Standards Award, Outcomes Award and how to achieve the Mayor’s Award for Excellence as a Health Improving School.

There are downloadable documents, information and guidance relating to each part of the award, including Pupil Report and Case Stories.

Whole Programme

Core Offer to schools 2017. This document outlines the offer to schools across the city as part of the Young People’s Public Health commitment to improving the health of children and young people in Bristol. Standards Award Audit & Evidence 2016-17 FINAL (Feb 17). The Health & Wellbeing Group RAG (red, amber, green) rates their school against the 28 standards and works towards embedding them into school life.

Standards Award Guidance 2016-2017 FINAL (Feb 17). An essential document with guidance on what actions and evidence are required to meet the Bristol Healthy Schools Standards.

Pupil Report

Pupil Report Template  To achieve the Standards Award, pupils at the school choose one standard to illustrate and present in the form of a poster, web link, video, photographs, voice recordings or other media.

 

Outcomes Award

Behaviour Change Spiral  An outline of the process the school takes in order to plan, do and review the interventions that lead to health behaviour change within their setting.

Sources of Data  This document outlines the sources of data available to the school when undertaking their needs analysis in preparation of setting health behaviour outcomes.

Outcomes Booklet  A list (though not exhaustive) of suggested health behaviour change outcomes the school can choose from based on the findings of their needs analysis.

Universal Outcomes Report & Targeted Outcomes Report  The school chooses 2 universal and 2 targeted outcomes based on need and collects both qualitative and quantitative baseline data and follow up data for each.

Colour Coded Outcomes Example & Colour Coded Case Story Example  The school transfers the information from their Outcomes Report into a Case Story template, building the basic data into a fuller story.

Universal Case Story Template & Targeted Case Story Template  In order to achieve the Outcomes Award, the school writes 2 Case Stories; one for each of the universal and targeted interventions.

 

Mayor's Award for Excellence

If the school achieves both the Standards Award and Outcomes Award within a 2 year period, they are presented with the prestigious Mayor’s Award for Excellence as a Health Improving School at our Mayor’s Award Ceremony. The deadlines for your school lead to receive your evidence for the Standards Award, Outcomes Award or Mayor’s Award for Excellence as a Health Improving School, are Feb 10th 2017 & 26th May 2017 by 5PM.
